Richard and Andrea moved to Herriot’s in 2005, both having worked for many years in large corporations not much further south geographically, but a whole world away from the Yorkshire Dales in terms of environment and culture. They gave up busy city lives and swapped them for much busier ones in the country; a fair trade when quality of life is paramount. Despite working together and being on the steep learning curve that Herriot's presented, they seem to still quite like each other and married in November 2006. Andrea has always dabbled in painting, although a “scientist” by training. She has appreciated and had a strong response to art since she was a child. Painting is now thankfully an important facet of life, and it feels natural to strive to represent not only what she sees around her, but also to convey the atmosphere and ever changing moods of the hills and dales in this very special place. The Herriot Gallery is a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild and adheres to it’s code of conduct, including the quality of fine art prints and framing.
