Original Art and Crafts in the Yorkshire Dales

“Lady Hill at Twilight”

by Andrea  Cooper

Welcome to The Herriot Gallery.

Here you will see a selection of the paintings and other art-work that is currently available, plus profiles of the artists, information about forthcoming exhibitions and links to other related web-sites.

The Herriot Gallery is situated in the 300-year old Herriot’s building on the main cobbled street that runs through Hawes, in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire. The Gallery is part of Herriot’s Guest House and Coffee Shop. So if you’re only able to visit Hawes for the day, why not call in and browse the gallery, then sit back and enjoy a freshly ground coffee and home-made cake? If you would like to stay for a while longer, please visit the Herriot’s Guest House web-site for details of our Visit Britain 4-star rated accommodation.

The gallery hosts solo-artist exhibitions for around 3 weeks every 2 months, with the intervening time being a general show of a core of Dales artists, including Piers Browne, Moira Metcalfe, Wendy Jones, Carol Tyler, Jonathan Pomroy, Sue Harpley, Hugh Fitzgibbon, and proprietor Andrea Cooper.

As well as a wide variety of original art, we also  offer jewellery designed and hand-made by Kim Seymour,  stone-work by Rachel Bates, stained, enamelled and etched glass by Jackie Hunt, wonderful Sophie’s Wild Woollens,  Laura’s Loom hand-woven textiles and ceramics by Andrew Hague. Everything in the gallery is made locally,  most of it within 10 miles.
